Our network makes peer connections for anyone who is a current or past owner/operator, manager, director or supervisor in a commercial childcare facility in Calgary and area.
We also welcome instructors and faculty from ELCC training programs in Calgary, members of our regulatory bodies, management staff from childcare-related service and support providers, and dayhome agency managers.
Life can be lonely in childcare leadership! Many of us are running operations, managing staff, making business decisions, and maybe even teaching as well. When we're waist deep in day-to-day challenges of operating a childcare facility, it's a breath of fresh air to talk to others in similar roles in our city who 'get it'.
The YYC ELCC Director's Network focuses on in-person, peer connections in a non-competitive, 'it's just lunch' environment. In the future, we hope to be able to tour each other's centres to share operational ideas and connect on solutions to everyday challenges. When I took a position in 2019 as a childcare director in Calgary, I wished for mentors and peers that I could learn from. During my networking efforts, I realized that many of us were navigating the same operational management situations and wishing we had others to brainstorm (and commiserate!) with. This network is the result! I am still growing and learning, and am excited to get to know you - I hope you can join us at future events.
